Auditor of State Mary Taylor has published the article "Gone But Not Forgotten: Dealing with Paperless Public Records in an Electronic Age" in the Spring 2010 issue of Best Practices. The article discusses e-mail as public records and the importance of establishing and following records retention schedules. It stresses that "It is important to understand that content should be the driving force behind determining whether a record needs to be retained."
